Cerridwen has
been slow to bloom but is very close to my “ideal dairy goat”, being structurally correct, dairy without being
fragile - & productive! Not only does she milk up a storm, but she can maintain condition while doing so and
bounces right back after easily birthing triplets 3 of 4 freshenings. To add to the package, she has
a lovely, well-attached, globular mammary with "pleasing texture", nicely shaped/sized teats, smooth fore-udder &
an impressive high & rounded rear udder. Cerridwen resembles
her dam Chelsee, who finished her Permanent Championship in 1995. Chelsee appraised 90 VEEE & placed 4th
in the 5 yr. old class at the 1998 ADGA National Show. Cerridwen also resembles
a paternal sister GCH Rockspring Dem Darbie Darbara 1*M EX91 who appraised 89 VVVE as a 2nd freshening 3 y.o. & was the 2005 PA Farm Show RGCH Cerridwen's sire,
*B Rockspring DK Dande Demension has produced some fine offspring, with 11 daughters averaging FS 86.2 on Linear Appraisal,
excelling in Strength, Dairyness, Rear Legs & Rump Angles; 34.2 Fore Udder Attachments & 38.7 Rear Udder Heights. Demension is a son of
GCH Rockspring Vin Daffy Dandelion EX93, who was the 1998 ADGA National Champion with Reserve Best Udder & the 2003 ADGA Reserve National Champion! Dandelion is an amazing doe, with
several achievements on her resume, including 1st/1st Udder 3 y.o, a member of 1st Dairy Herd
& 1st Best Three Females at the 1998 ADGA National Show; 6x BIS in 1999; BIS at the 2000 PA State Farm Show and then at
the 2000 ADGA National Show, 5th 5-6 y.o, was a member of the 1st Dairy Herd, and 1st Get of Sire. At the 2001 ADGA National Show, Dandelion was 1st 5-6 year old at just 3 weeks fresh. Cerridwen feels
she is much too far above silly things like leading & posing, so hasn't seen much of the show ring. On the
infrequent occasions we've um . . . dragged her along, she has done quite well, standing in the upper parts of her age
classes & usually winning her udder classes. She was also a member of our
2nd place Dairy Herd at the 2004 District IV LaMancha Specialty! Although her inclination
toward being . . . shall we say "An Easy Keeper" tends to affect her in General Appearance, she appraised quite respectably
with many scores falling within or above the ideal ranges, excelling in the following Linear Traits & Structural Categories:
32 Strength; 34 Dairyness; 35 Fore Udder Attachment; 44 Rear Udder Height; 24 MSL; 33 Udder Depth & V's in the areas of
Head, Front Legs & Back. She is a beloved member of our herd & an invaluable
contributor to our breeding program, proving herself as a producer of quality offspring: 2003 daughter,
Lost Nation Dashing Ceinwen, has also been a slow maturer but freshened with one
of the prettiest mammaries of the 2003 does & can boast the highest rear udder score in the herd to date with a 47!
2005 Matrix
daughters, Lost Nation Matrix Cerys & Creirwy also strongly resemble their dam & maternal relatives – right down to the pretty & productive mammaries
they freshened, also consistent of this dam line! ;)
